Morning Commute…

A great thing about living in the city or near one is that you can take a bus or a train to work, the bad thing about living in the city or near one is that sometimes, this can be a little annoying! Take, for example, this morning’s commute… it started off fine, with the exception of the torrential downpour of rain…I took the bus, which came about 5 minutes later and rode in the usual 13 minute walk to Harvard Square. I boarded the train for me 25 minutes on the Red Line and transferred for my green line ride of 10 minutes. I got to the office around 9:15ish, like every office space morning! I usually enjoy my “alone time”, earphones in, gawking at the passerbys, but this morning I found myself a bit perturbed as I stood by this woman who refused to make room for other passengers. For those of you who don’t commute, I’ll explain the situation… The way the T works is that when the train stops to pick up more passengers, those that are waiting to get on wait (usually) for their fellow passengers to exit the train before boarding. Those passengers who do not exit the train should move in, either taking empty seats, or moving towards the middle of the trains to make room for those that are boarding. Well, this morning, some dippy-head decided that she didn’t want to move to the middle of the train, thus blocking the rest of us from the mid-section and ultimately plugging up the doorways that are at opposite ends of the trains. Wet, squished, and annoyed, I looked at her several times with the look of “move it in dippy-head” and she kept looking down and ignoring me. She finally offered for me to go by her, but only when the train started moving, making it impossible for me to get by. Thankfully, the next stop was hers. I guess the reason I’m so perturbed is the fact that it’s not rocket science people, it logical sense to make room for others when in crowded spaces…
