On the road again to Curitiba,Brazil!
We took off this morning from Rio for a quick trip to Sao Paolo and then to our destination here in Curitiba,Brazil. It was a rocky morning as we had to get up and meet in the lobby at 4am to wait for our driver who unfortunately didn´t show when he was expected, it was said that he was on South American time, which as an American traveling for work isn´t exactly an ideal timeframe. When we got to the airport our flight information wasn´t there and looked like it was cancelled, we later learned that instead of not putting info up on the board for flight info they will often put “cancelled” in it´s place, which really freaked us out! But, all was well and aside from a few dramatic gate changes, we were able to make our flight just fine.
Curitiba so far, is nice… been sleeping most of the day attempting to recover from the day´s events… nerdy, I know, but the possibility of getting sick with another week and a half of travel seems too high a risk to take. I´ll make up for it tonight as we´re heading out to another Meat ATTACK with our agents at a well-known Brazilian BBQ restaurant~BRING ON THE MEAT!!!
Our outing with our agents was fun- Thais, Celso, and Leo are young and outgoing. Their company, the meat, and desserts were enough to put me over the edge! We dined for over 3 hours and talked and shared stories about work, family, and friends both local and abroad. It’s always nice to get to know the agents and ask questions about life in their home countries/towns. Even though we speak different languages, have different cultural mannerisms, and sometimes can’t find the right words to express ourselves to clearly communicate our points, laughter always breaks the ice and crosses all barriers- especially after a few drinks!
We’re looking forward to our second Road Show tomorrow morning… we’re expecting just over 40 students so it should be a short day… we also learned that it’s Father’s day here as well! I’ll be shopping for my Pops as well too…Hey Dad, you want me to get you some flip-flops? (I’d say thongs, but here it means something a bit different!)
Until tomorrow!
