Last Day In RIO…

Filed under: Random, Travel — Mochagoddess @ 9:12 pm

We had quite an eventful day today! Our first Road Show took place from about 8 this morning to 5 this evening, 200 students were intereviewed and almost as many hired! My job is to do the introduction presentation, (yes, me and my BIG mouth get first crack at these kids) it was a blast, the students were attentive and enjoyed my recommendation when they see their first snow in the States of peeling down to their birthday suits, running outside, and jumping in face first. I told them that everybody does it back home and they take pictures of it too! Rest assured, I told them it was only a joke… or did I? We’ll see whether or not they send those pictures…ha ha! The mean things you can do to the innocent- NOT! It’s crazy to think that most of these students in their 20’s have never seen snow…WOW! They were really cute and very nervous to interview with our employers and kept coming up to me with questions and concerns which I found quite endearing. I reminded them that it´s not everyday that someone their age can enter the USA with a job and a place to live legally and people already built in to support them- they´re special and should remember that!

After our successful Road Show, Clare, Cristina and I decided to veg for a bit before heading out for dinner. We found a cute little restaurant down the street- the food was okay, the company great, and the fried bananas freakin´amazing! They do this wonderful dish where they cut these 4 inch bananas in half, fry ém up in cinnamon and sugar, and plate them with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center- talk about heaven! Can´t wait to try it at home! When dinner was over we decided to head back to the hotel for a little late night cocktail. On our way back to the hotel we were entertained by the buzzing late night crowd (it´s true, the night life doesn´t begin until midnight-2am). Musicians lined the streets and ladies and gents showed off their samba moves- it was a great ending to our Rio experience!

Hey there sis! Sounds like you are having a ball and working too! Sounds like the sights are beautiful and the pics that I have seen on Rio from the web don’t even compare as they do in person.
We got the gifts and the gift certificate too - thought it was a ploy to buy steaks - about threw it away by accident. He says thanks!
enjoy your trip and will keep up on your blog!
    love ya!
